LANSING, Mich. – A 31-year-old Adrian man, Timothy Jerome Neves Jr., has been arrested and charged in connection with a brutal stabbing incident that occurred over the weekend.
Neves Jr. was arraigned Monday in Lenawee County District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying with Unlawful Intent, and Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile. He is currently being held at Lenawee County Jail, with his bond set at $550,000.
The Adrian Police Department responded to a call at a residence located in the 600 block of S Winter Street around noon on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had been stabbed multiple times. Authorities say the suspect had already fled the scene by the time police arrived.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities reported that she is currently in stable but critical condition.
Following the stabbing, police were able to track down the vehicle Neves Jr. had stolen after fleeing the scene. They obtained an arrest warrant for him the next day and launched an investigation into his whereabouts. Detectives quickly identified Neves Jr.’s home in Adrian, where they secured a search warrant. He was arrested without incident at his residence on Monday afternoon.
