LANSING, Mich. — A crash on the south side of Lansing caused significant disruptions Tuesday night, leading to road closures and power outages in the area.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., Ingham County Dispatch issued an alert advising residents that Waverly Road would be closed between Jolly Road and Sheffield due to the accident. Multiple police units were spotted on the scene around 10:30 p.m., and responders had blocked off a large section of the area. One vehicle was observed with considerable damage, though authorities have not yet provided details on the cause of the crash or the extent of any injuries.
As the crash unfolded, the Lansing Board of Water and Light reported two separate outages near the intersection of Waverly Road and Jolly Road. The first outage began at 9:22 p.m., affecting approximately 1,600 customers, while the second outage began at 9:53 p.m. and left around 2,500 residents without power. Neighbors reported that the outages coincided with the crash, though police have not confirmed if there is any connection between the two events.
By 11:00 p.m., power had been restored to most of the affected area, with only 428 customers in south Lansing still experiencing outages. The road was also reopened, and normal traffic conditions were resumed. Authorities have yet to release further information on how the crash occurred or whether there were any injuries.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and more details are expected to be released in the coming days.
