Detroit, MI — A popular gentlemen’s club on Detroit’s west side was shut down over the weekend after multiple teenagers were found attending a birthday party at the establishment, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
The Sting nightclub, known for its adult entertainment offerings, became the focus of police attention on Saturday night when a concerned mother located her child at the venue and contacted law enforcement. According to police, around 20 individuals under the age of 21, including a 14-year-old, were present at the club during the celebration.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison addressed the situation, emphasizing the risks involved when minors are exposed to adult environments. “It was dancing going on here, and it was adult beverages being served as well,” Bettison said. “I know you want to grow up fast, but this is dangerous. A lot of kids can get lured into a life of human trafficking, and there are a lot of things that happen in these adult clubs where children should not be exposed to.”
As a result of the investigation, police seized DVRs while executing a search warrant at The Sting. A red sign was placed on the club’s door, signaling its closure. Although no arrests have been made, authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and question the individual who organized the birthday party.
Residents living near the nightclub voiced their concerns, with local father Darrel Wallace expressing disbelief at the situation. “What type of person that runs this business have kids? Makes me wonder about you,” Wallace said. “I don’t even deal with these types of clubs, so it’s really degrading, especially to our community. We don’t need stuff like that.”
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that further details will be released once available. The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the safety of youth in adult venues and the responsibility of business owners in keeping minors away from inappropriate environments.
While the nightclub remains closed, Detroit police are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
