Fatal Crash in Ionia Township Leaves One Dead, Child Injured

Lansing,  MI — A single-vehicle crash in Ionia Township on Saturday night resulted in the death of a 39-year-old man and left a 4-year-old child with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 8 p.m. on the 3300 block of E Stage Road. According to deputies, the man, a resident of Pewamo, was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road, and crashed into a tree.

Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The young child, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Authorities confirmed the child’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office. No further details have been released as of yet.
