Fatal Crash in Lenawee County Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

Lenawee County, MI – A fatal crash on US 223 Highway near Woerner Road resulted in the death of one individual and left another injured on the evening of February 15. Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating the incident, which took place around 7 p.m. that Saturday.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 29-year-old male from Waldron, Michigan, was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound on US 223 when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 27-year-old female passenger, also from Waldron, was transported to Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson for treatment of her injuries.

Authorities believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash, though the investigation is ongoing. MSP closed a portion of US 223 Highway near Woerner Road for several hours as they conducted their investigation.
