Fire damages detached garage and home on Bensch St in Lansing

Lansing, MI – At approximately 4:00 PM, Lansing firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 block of Bensch St for reports of a fire in a detached garage. Responding units included Truck 41, Engine 41, Engine 42, Engine 49, Truck 46, Battalion 42, and Medic 41.

Truck 41 arrived first and found the garage fully involved, with flames extending to the rear of the residence and affecting the entire back wall of the home. Crews made an aggressive interior attack to prevent further spread of the fire.

Despite significant damage to the main residence and some fire extension to a neighboring home, no injuries were reported. Firefighters’ rapid and coordinated efforts limited what could have been a much larger loss.

Lansing Professional Firefighters praised the crews for their work in controlling the blaze.
