LANSING, Mich. — The City of Lansing has activated its “Code Blue” cold weather emergency plan, set to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and run until 6 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. This initiative aims to assist individuals experiencing homelessness by providing additional shelter and support during extreme cold temperatures.
Under the Code Blue plan, local shelters are temporarily increasing their capacity and adjusting their hours to accommodate more people in need of warmth. The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is also offering free rides to warming shelters for anyone requiring transportation assistance.
Those seeking shelter can contact 211 for information or to request help. The list of emergency cold weather shelters, available through the current Code Blue activation, is as follows:
