LANSING, Mich. — In a decisive move aimed at curbing violence in the city, Lansing officials have revoked the cabaret and liquor licenses of Centerfolds, an adult entertainment club, following a series of violent crimes spanning several years. The decision comes after a deadly shooting in February 2025, marking the latest in a string of violent incidents at the establishment.
On February 16, 2025, 45-year-old Christopher Bonilla Sr. was fatally shot inside the club, adding to a troubling history of violence at the venue. Previous incidents include a 2016 shooting that injured two individuals and a 2013 shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man.
Lansing city leaders, frustrated by the ongoing issues at Centerfolds, took action after reviewing the club’s history and current security measures. Ryan Kost, president of the Lansing City Council, confirmed that the city’s relationship with the business had long been strained. Speaking with 6 News in February, Kost expressed the city’s concerns about the club’s operations and its inability to address the repeated violence.
The decision to revoke the club’s licenses was made after it was determined that the club’s owners had failed to implement adequate security measures despite repeated warnings. City officials cited the lack of a proactive approach to improve safety, including failure to increase security personnel, as a key factor in their decision.
“The safety of our community is a top priority, and the repeated violent incidents at Centerfolds cannot be overlooked any longer,” Kost stated. “We have provided ample opportunity for the club to improve, but their continued negligence has left us with no choice but to revoke their licenses.”
The revocation of both the cabaret and liquor licenses means that Centerfolds will no longer be allowed to operate its adult entertainment business or serve alcohol. The club’s owners have not yet publicly responded to the decision, but the move is expected to have significant financial consequences for the business.
As the city takes steps to address public safety, it remains clear that Lansing officials are committed to ensuring that businesses operate responsibly and contribute positively to the community.
