Lansing, Mich. – Ben Shuldiner, the current superintendent of the Lansing School District (LSD), has emerged as one of the top four candidates for the superintendent position of the Clark County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, Nevada. CCSD, which is the fifth-largest school district in the United States, serves over 300,000 students across nearly 400 schools.
Shuldiner’s inclusion in the shortlist follows a competitive selection process that initially featured six candidates. One candidate recently withdrew from the race, while another was eliminated after concerns arose regarding his record of firings from previous districts. Shuldiner, however, remains a strong contender as the CCSD Board of Trustees prepares for interviews next week.
Despite his advancement to the final stages of consideration, Shuldiner has made it clear that he is not actively seeking a new position. In a statement shared with 6 News before the pool of candidates was narrowed, Shuldiner emphasized his pride in the work being done in Lansing and his commitment to the community.
“I am honored to be asked to apply for the position of Clark County School District Superintendent,” Shuldiner said. “My inclusion in this illustrious group is truly a testament to the amazing work all of us in Lansing have done over the last four years. I also want the Lansing community to know that I am thrilled to live here and work for the Lansing School District. I am not actively searching for a new position. I am proud of the work we are doing here and know that there is much more to be done.”
Shuldiner, who has been with LSD since 2021, expressed his deep attachment to the Lansing community, emphasizing that while the opportunity in Clark County is significant, his dedication to Lansing’s students and educators remains unwavering.
The CCSD Board of Trustees is scheduled to conduct interviews with the remaining candidates next week, and further interviews will take place on March 10 and 11. Following these sessions, trustees will narrow the pool of candidates further before making a final decision on the new superintendent.
