Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-94 Near Parma Road Sends Two to Hospital

LANSING, Mich. — A serious crash involving multiple semi-trucks and a pickup truck on Interstate 94 in Jackson County led to two individuals being hospitalized Friday morning, authorities reported.

According to a shift activity report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene near Parma Road on the westbound lanes of I-94 around 10:56 a.m. The crash involved three semi-trucks and one pickup truck.

The investigation revealed that one semi-truck failed to yield to slowing traffic, resulting in a collision with the other vehicles. The driver of the truck that caused the crash became trapped inside the vehicle and required rescue by emergency personnel.

Two individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. One was initially reported to have sustained critical injuries, but the sheriff’s office later confirmed that their condition has been upgraded to serious.

The crash forced the closure of all westbound lanes of I-94 as emergency crews worked to clear the scene, causing significant traffic delays in the area.

In addition to the physical damage, a large amount of vehicle fluid leaked from the wrecked vehicles, flowing into storm drains and nearby rivers. Environmental cleanup teams were dispatched to manage the hazardous spill.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident.
