Ovid Shelter-in-Place Suspect Still at Large After Truck Recovery in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. — Authorities in Lansing have recovered a truck believed to have been stolen by the suspect involved in a recent shelter-in-place incident in Ovid. Despite the recovery of the vehicle, the suspect remains at large, prompting police to continue their search.

According to a Facebook post from the Ovid Police Department, the suspect, who was seen on surveillance video stealing the truck from the Michigan Milk Producers Association on Thursday morning, was initially apprehended by Lansing Police on Saturday. The man was taken into custody for fingerprinting, but upon further investigation, it was determined that he was not the individual authorities were seeking.

The stolen truck, however, was successfully located by Lansing Police and is now in their possession.

The incident began at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Thursday when the suspect was captured on video stealing the vehicle. In response to the crime, Ovid Police had issued a shelter-in-place order, urging residents to stay indoors while the search for the suspect continued.

Authorities are now urging the public to remain vigilant. Anyone who may have seen the suspect or has information about his whereabouts is asked not to approach him but to contact 911 immediately.

As of now, the search for the Ovid shelter-in-place suspect is ongoing. Police have not released further details about the suspect’s identity, but they continue to investigate the case.
