School Bus Damaged in Lansing Crash, No Injuries Reported

Lansing, MI — A school bus was involved in a crash Monday afternoon on East Mt. Hope Avenue, just before 3 p.m. The collision shut down a section of the road, blocking traffic between Teel Avenue and South Cedar Street.

At the scene, News 10 reporters observed significant damage to both vehicles. The school bus sustained damage to its driver’s side headlight and other parts of its front end. The black Jeep, which appeared to be the other vehicle involved, was seen being loaded onto a tow truck, with heavy damage to the front and a shattered windshield.

A fire truck and ambulance were dispatched to the site, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The students aboard the bus, who were returning from Mt. Hope School, were safely transferred to an alternate bus and taken home.

Ryan Gilding, Communications Manager for the Lansing School District, confirmed that the crash was caused by the driver of the Jeep, who appeared to have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision. Authorities are investigating the incident further.

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, but the road was cleared after a brief period.
