Jackson, MI — A 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly shooting a 14-year-old boy during an altercation in Jackson, Michigan. According to the Jackson Police Department, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on the 600 block of Seymour Avenue.
Investigators say the victim, a 14-year-old boy, was involved in a dispute with another individual when Marquise Lamar Young, 17, pulled out a firearm. As the teens attempted to flee the scene, Young fired the weapon, striking the victim in the back.
Officers arrived shortly after the shooting and found the injured teen at the scene. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
The victim has since been released and is expected to recover. Young was apprehended and booked into the Jackson County Youth Detention Center. He has been charged as an adult with **Assault with Intent to Murder**. His bond has been set at $250,000.
If convicted, Young faces the possibility of a life sentence in prison.
