Lansing, MI — Three men were arrested on Sunday following a high-speed chase through Livingston County, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle in Brighton that had been reported stolen from East Lansing. However, the driver fled, leading authorities on a pursuit onto the highway. The vehicle reportedly swerved to avoid stop sticks — tire-puncturing devices placed along the road — and veered off the highway before crashing into a concrete support pillar for an overpass.
All three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without further incident.
A 24-year-old Lansing man was charged with fleeing and eluding police, possession of a stolen vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and operating the vehicle while intoxicated. The other two men, both aged 19 and 24, were arrested on charges of carrying concealed weapons.
The incident unfolded on Grand River Avenue in Brighton, where deputies had initially attempted to make the stop before the car fled. Authorities have not disclosed the exact details of the chase, but the crash ended the pursuit and led to the arrests.
The stolen vehicle and weapons have been seized, and the three men are being held in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the event.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department reminds residents of the dangers of fleeing from law enforcement and encourages cooperation with law enforcement during traffic stops.
