LANSING, Mich. — Drivers in Lansing are advised to plan ahead as significant detours will be in place on the north side of the city due to utility work being conducted by the Board of Water and Light. The work is expected to impact traffic near Groesbeck Golf Course for approximately one week.
Wood Street, which runs between Lake Lansing Road and Barritt Street, is currently closed to through traffic and will remain so until next Wednesday, April 30. In response to the closure, the City of Lansing has provided recommended detour routes for both northbound and southbound drivers.
For those heading south, the city recommends traveling west on Lake Lansing Road, then turning left onto Larch Street. Drivers should then make another left onto Saginaw Street, followed by a left turn onto Fairview Avenue. From there, they should turn left onto Grand River Avenue before taking a right onto Wood Street.
For those heading north, the detour advises taking Grand River Avenue/Oakland Avenue west, turning right onto Larch Street, and then making another right onto Lake Lansing Road. Drivers can then turn right back onto Wood Street to resume their route.
Motorists are urged to use caution and allow extra time to navigate the area while the utility work is being completed. Local officials expect the detours to remain in place until the utility repairs are finished and the road is reopened to traffic.
The City of Lansing continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted signs and detour directions to ensure smooth travel during this period of construction.
For further details, residents and commuters can visit the City of Lansing’s official website or follow the city’s social media channels for real-time updates on road closures and detours.
