Winter Storms Expected to Impact Mid-Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — Several winter storms are set to affect Mid-Michigan, beginning Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for the region, which will remain in effect from early Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

The first round of snow is expected to arrive Wednesday afternoon, bringing heavy snow that will quickly reduce visibility and lead to significant snow accumulation on the roadways. Drivers are advised to take extra precautions as conditions may worsen rapidly.

The heaviest snowfall is anticipated to move out of the area by Wednesday night, but scattered lake-effect snow showers are likely to persist throughout the day on Thursday. These additional snow showers may contribute to further accumulation, although they are expected to be less intense than the initial storm.

Snow totals for Mid-Michigan are projected to range from 3 to 6 inches, with some areas potentially seeing higher totals. The storm’s impact on travel could make conditions hazardous, especially during the evening commute on Wednesday and the morning hours on Thursday.

Looking ahead, another set of winter systems is expected to move across the Great Lakes starting Friday night and lasting into Sunday. This second round of storms could bring additional snow accumulation to the region, further complicating travel and outdoor plans.

Residents are urged to stay informed on the latest weather updates and to prepare for changing conditions throughout the week.
