Multi-County Car Chase Follows Kent County Dealership Heist

Lansing, MI — A car dealership break-in in Kent County early Monday morning sparked a dramatic, multi-county police chase across Michigan, ending with the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of several stolen vehicles. The incident began just before 2 a.m. at Comodo Motors in Caledonia, where the dealership owner noticed multiple vehicles being stolen through a surveillance camera.

Kent County deputies were quickly dispatched to the scene, where they observed five vehicles fleeing the dealership, including a blue Dodge Challenger, a black Chevrolet Corvette, and a black Dodge Ram 1500 TRX — all of which were confirmed to be stolen. A black Dodge Challenger and a white Jeep were also seen driving away and are presumed to have been stolen, though their status remains under investigation.

The suspects fled the scene and traveled north on M-6, prompting deputies to initiate a pursuit. As the chase unfolded, deputies deployed stop sticks on Broadmore Avenue near the 8000 block. The tactic partially disabled the blue Dodge Challenger, causing the vehicle to come to a stop near the intersection of M-6 and I-96.

However, the situation took a turn when the suspects exited the disabled Challenger and jumped into the white Jeep. The chase continued at high speeds, exceeding 100 miles per hour, as the suspects drove through multiple counties. Deputies lost sight of the Jeep and the Corvette as the chase entered Ionia County, but a coordinated effort by law enforcement agencies led to significant developments.

In a breakthrough, a 19-year-old woman from Detroit was arrested after the black Dodge Ram was located with the assistance of Ionia County deputies and Portland police. The Corvette was also found abandoned in Livingston County.

Despite the chaos and high speeds, no injuries were reported during the pursuit. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the thefts and the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

The case has sparked concerns about car theft rings in the area, and police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the remaining individuals involved in the heist.
