Lansing, MI — Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan is urging the public to come forward with information related to three unresolved cases that have left local authorities seeking answers.
This week, the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department, Lansing Police Department, and local law enforcement officials have appealed to the community for assistance in solving a missing person case, a decades-old homicide, and a recent vehicle theft. The Crime Stoppers program is offering up to a $1,000 reward for tips leading to arrests or further developments in these investigations.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Department is searching for 42-year-old Gregory Brian Pennington, a man from Nashville, Mich., who has been missing since Dec. 12, 2023. Authorities initially responded to an abandoned vehicle in the 4000 block of Michigan Ave. on Dec. 11, which was later confirmed to belong to Pennington. The following day, Pennington was reported missing, and investigators are now concerned that foul play may be involved. The Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with information about Pennington’s whereabouts to come forward.
Pennington’s disappearance has raised significant concerns among family and law enforcement officials, who are actively pursuing leads to locate him. His last known location was near the area where his vehicle was found abandoned.
The Lansing Police Department is also revisiting a cold case from nearly 40 years ago, in hopes that new information will lead to justice for the family of Armando Gonzalez. Gonzalez, 70, was found stabbed to death in his townhome on Turner Street in Lansing on Dec. 11, 1986. Despite extensive investigations at the time, the case remains unsolved.
Detectives are urging anyone with knowledge of the events surrounding Gonzalez’s death to come forward, as they believe new information could help bring closure to this decades-old case. Police have not released additional details regarding potential suspects but have emphasized the importance of any new leads that may emerge.
In a more recent incident, the Lansing Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who stole a vehicle and fled from officers. The theft occurred in the 400 block of East Jolly Road, with the suspect later evading police on foot near the 1800 block of Maplewood Ave. Authorities are actively investigating the case and are looking for any tips that could help identify the suspect.
The suspect, described as a man who fled from the scene, is believed to have been involved in the theft of a vehicle before running from police officers. Investigators are asking for any witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the suspect’s identity to come forward.
Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest or the resolution of any of these cases. Tipsters can remain anonymous when providing information. The Crime Stoppers hotline can be reached at (517) 483-STOP.
Local authorities are urging community members to come forward, emphasizing that any piece of information, no matter how small, could be the key to solving these cases. Anyone with tips is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or their local law enforcement agency.
As these investigations continue, law enforcement remains hopeful that the public can assist in bringing justice to the victims and their families.
