Oakland County Man Charged After Christmas Eve Crash Leads to Death and Injuries

Lansing, MI – A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with a Christmas Eve incident that left one person dead and two others injured. Malik Letroy Webb, of Oakland County, was involved in a series of events that began with a car crash and escalated into a deadly confrontation.

According to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for Oakland County, Webb first entered a parking lot near the intersection of M-24 and Oakwood around 4:00 p.m. on December 24. Webb’s vehicle struck a wooden pole, and when he attempted to back up, he narrowly missed hitting another car before hitting the pole again. At this point, two women, aged 28 and 54, approached Webb to ask if he was alright. In response, Webb allegedly pointed a handgun at the women before driving off southbound on Lapeer Road.

Shortly after the initial encounter, at around 6:15 p.m., Webb’s car was found in a ditch near the intersection of Ray Road and North Oxford Road. Dr. Barbara Wolf, a local physician, and her 38-year-old daughter stopped to offer assistance. Authorities say that at some point during the interaction, Webb became violent, resulting in the death of one individual and the injury of the others involved.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the series of events leading to the fatality. Webb has been charged with several offenses, including manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, and reckless driving.

Local authorities are urging anyone with further information on the incident to come forward as the investigation unfolds. The identities of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
