3-Year-Old in Critical Condition After Jackson County Crash

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating a crash on westbound I-94 near Dearing Road in Jackson County that left a 3-year-old girl in critical condition.

The accident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday when a 31-year-old woman from Kalamazoo lost control of her 2024 Mazda. The vehicle struck the guardrail twice before coming to a stop. The woman was traveling with her two children, a 3-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, both of whom were injured in the crash.

All three occupants were transported to a local hospital for treatment, with the 3-year-old girl reported to be in critical condition. The 8-year-old boy’s injuries were not specified but were believed to be less severe.

Michigan State Police have indicated that there is no evidence to suggest drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they continue to piece together the events surrounding the crash.
