Pontiac Man Dies in Friday Evening Crash

Lansing, MI – A 52-year-old Pontiac man was killed in a car crash on Friday evening in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Auburn Avenue near South Francis Street and South Sanford Street. A 69-year-old Pontiac woman was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on Auburn Avenue when she stopped for a red light at South Sanford Street. The man, driving a 2023 Dodge Ram truck, was also traveling eastbound toward the same intersection.

The Ram truck crashed into the rear of the Chevrolet Blazer, causing the truck to veer off the road. It hit a crosswalk signal pole and a tree before coming to a stop in a nearby field. The driver of the Ram, a 52-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Initial investigations suggest that the man may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the crash. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

The woman driving the Chevrolet Blazer, who was wearing her seatbelt, was not injured in the crash.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
