One Dead Following Early Morning House Fire in Jackson County

LANSING, Mich. – A house fire early Sunday morning in Jackson County has left one person dead, according to Deputy Chief Tim Gonzales. The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. at a single-story home located on the 300 block of N. Forbes Street.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found one resident outside the house. The individual informed firefighters that another person was still inside. Emergency responders were able to locate the victim and pull them from the blaze, but the person was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Firefighters reported that flames were visible coming from the front porch and the living room area of the home. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and the investigation is ongoing.

The name of the deceased has not been released at this time. Authorities are working to gather more details, and further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
