LANSING, Mich. — Two construction workers were hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after being struck by a fallen power line at a commercial construction site in Genoa Township.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the Brighton Area Fire Authority responded to the industrial accident around 12:30 p.m. at a site on Latson Road, just south of Grand River Avenue.
Authorities reported that workers were pouring concrete when the boom spreader on a concrete truck came into contact with a primary power line. The contact caused the line to break and fall onto two employees standing nearby, resulting in electrocution injuries.
Both victims were transported by Livingston County EMS to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
Officials have reminded construction crews to exercise extreme caution when working near power lines to prevent similar tragedies.
