Michigan State Housing Development Authority to Launch First-Generation Down Payment Assistance Program

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) is set to unveil its new First-Generation Down Payment Assistance Program, aimed at helping first-time homebuyers overcome financial barriers to homeownership. The program’s launch will be announced at a special event scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Michigan Realtors Headquarters in Lansing.

The initiative is designed to provide eligible first-generation buyers with increased down payment assistance, making homeownership more accessible for those who have faced challenges in saving for a down payment. MSHDA’s goal is to support individuals and families who have not previously owned a home, offering them the financial support needed to take the crucial step toward owning their first property.

The special announcement will begin at 2 p.m. and will be live-streamed to allow residents across the state to participate in the event virtually. Local news station 6 News will provide additional coverage later in the evening, offering further details about the program, including how potential homebuyers can apply and what specific eligibility criteria must be met.

The First-Generation Down Payment Assistance Program is the latest effort by MSHDA to address housing affordability and assist Michigan residents in achieving their homeownership dreams.
